If you have answered yes to any of the above, are aged between 15 – 22 years, and are a resident of the Hurunui District (may attend boarding school outside the district) then the Hurunui Youth Council maybe for you.

Applications must be received by Monday 31st October 2016

To be considered for the Hurunui Youth Council applicants must attend the HYC applicant introduction evening on Monday 31st October 6pm – 8pm Amberley Memorial Library.


What does the Hurunui Youth Council do?

The Hurunui Youth Council aims to encourage and provide a youth voice and perspective to the Hurunui Council and local decision makers.

The Hurunui Youth Council provides leadership opportunities for young people in the Hurunui District

The HYC provides a youth voice, discuss issues facing youth and address the key needs of youth in the Hurunui district.


What commitment will you be making?

HYC members must be available to:

  • Attend three weekly meetings on Mondays 6.30pm – 8.30pm at the Hurunui District Council in Amberley.
  • Attend all meetings unless you have a good reason not to.
  • Act as responsible, active and willing youth leaders / HYC members.
  • Be available on Wednesday 7th – Friday 9th December for the HYC O-3 training at Waipara Adventure Centre.
  • Commit a minimum of three hours per week.
